Create 1.1.1Time Management

Effective Tools for Time Management:

1. Scheduling
2. Prioritizing
3. Flexibility
4. Scheduled "flexible" time
5. Delegating

Thankfully, time management is a skill that my parents instilled in me at a young age. Both of my parents worked full-time jobs, and my sister and I were very involved in extracurricular activities. I watched my parents schedule and prioritize all of my childhood, and I feel like those experiences taught me how to do both in my own life.

As a teacher, scheduling is important to make sure that all of the required standards are met in the allotted time period. This also requires prioritizing. At the same time, however, we must be flexible and recognize that meeting the needs of our students far outweighs the need to "stay on schedule." My most effective years of of content mapping have come from the times when I allow myself a buffer, or scheduled flexible time. I felt tremendously less pressure those years, and I was able to adequately address my students' wants and needs. Finally, delegating is important. I have caught myself spending too much time on a task that I could have or should have passed on to my students to complete.
