Synchronous Methods of Delivery
Synchronous delivery requires that the instructor and students access the information simultaneously at a scheduled time. This type of delivery often takes the form of Skype or Adobe Connect chats, conference calls, and Podcasts.
Asynchronous Methods of Delivery
Asynchronous delivery allows students to access information prepared by an instructor at a time that is conducive to the student's schedule. Typically, students are allowed to work at their own pace, making sure to adhere to the general guidelines of the course.
Certainly finding time to coordinate the schedules of a group of students and their instructor is a difficult task. For that reason, asynchronous delivery is typically the preferred method of online instruction.
