Narrowing down the top three Digital Resources is like asking a child to narrow down the top three ice cream flavors. That's simply not an easy task!
But, here's what I'm loving now:
1. Blendspace
This multi-faceted web platform is perfect for teachers who are flipping their classrooms. Upload a video, organize content, assess students' progress, and track data. What more could one ask for from a free site? The one-stop-shop for flipping instruction is super, super cool.
2. Flipgrid
I cannot wait to try out the free trial for Flipgrid. Although the site does require payment once the trial expires, the $65 annual fee seems like a steal considering all that this awesome site does. The teacher posts text-based questions, and in response, students post a video of themselves answering the question. Flipgrid is a fantastic way to really nurture the selfie generation and capitalize on their unwavering obsession with videos....especially of themselves.
Symbaloo isn't new; I've been using it to keep track of my Students' Blogs for years, but I recently began to use it to keep track of my own favorite Web Tools. The color coding is super helpful, and it makes my Type A heart go pitter patter. I also love how easily it can be embedded using html. Here's a recent Symbaloo that I created after attending ISTE 14 this summer in Atlanta. There are so many awesome resources here:
Safety for Students:
As an English teacher, I have been teaching my students the importance of researching responsibly and safely for years. In this digital age, those same strategies are just as true, but they are even more vital to ensure that students are safe and the information they access is reputable. In addition, sites like Stop Badware promote web safety. As always, all web users need to be mindful of sharing personal information.
