As the old adage goes, it takes a village to raise a child. The 21st century version of those wise words should certainly include a line about requiring a village to promote web safety. Reminding our students of the vast scope and permanency of the Web is a fantastic way to keep digital safety on the forefront of their minds. The term "digital footprint" is now so inadequate to the stark reality. As Juan Enriquez shares in his 2013 TED Talk, our web presence is more like a digital tattoo.
Sadly, there are so many news stories about individuals who misused or abused digital resources. We can certainly share those stories with hopes that students can learn from the mistakes of others.
