Create 4.1.1 Define and Explain Learning Object Authoring Tools

Learning Object Authoring Tools are any tools used to display information for students. I love to find new Web 2.0 Tools and think of ways to use the tool as a learning object. Here are some of my favorites:

1. Smore
I love using Smore as a learning object because I can seamlessly embed different media to further explain a concept or skill. It begins as a free tool, but after 6 Smores, it becomes a pay site.

2. Infogr.am
Infographics are gaining popularity by the day, and they're a fantastic tool to teach a concept using visuals and numbers. Infogr.am is free for its basic functions, but upgraded capabilities require a fee.

3. Thinglink
Thinglink allows users to add links onto images or videos. This is an awesome way to allow students to explore deeper and access additional resources with ease. It is a free site.

4. Flipsnack
A digital booklet or online brochure of information is easy to create using Flipsnack. My students have even used this for creating projects. This is a free tool.

5. Quizlet
Quizlet allows teachers and/or students to create flashcards to review vocabulary. I've also found ways to help students use Quizlet for grammar practice, too. It is a free resource.
